Eugene "Cy" Cebulski volunteered for service in the U.S. Navy in August 1944, when he was 17 years old. He completed basic training in Great Lakes, joining the Great Lakes Drum and Bugle corps during his time there. He was subsequently assigned to the U.S.S. Booth, a destroyer escort, and held the rank of motor machinist mate 3rd class until his hardship discharge in April 1946. In his interview, he reminisces about his time and experiences on the U.S.S.
