In the first part of Captain Calhoun's interview, he discusses his early Navy career including his time at the Naval Academy in Annapolis in the mid 1930's and his early destroyer service just past Pear Harbor, as well as time in North Great Britain at Skaflow (?).Note: This gentleman has written two authoritative histories, one of the Destroyer Sterett and one on the typhoon incident. Wilbur Jones had done earlier 15 hours of interviews and those tapes are now at the Naval History Institute.
