| Tom Edens grew up in Hampstead, North Carolina. He attended the North Carolina School for the Blind from 1927 until 1939. Eden's blindness prevented him from enlisting in the U.S. Military; so late in the war he took a job at Old Farms Veterans Administration Hospital in Avon, Connecticut. There he taught Braille, helped blinded American Servicemen adjust to their vision loss. |
