Hector McNeill joined the U.S.
Navy in 1943. He qualified for the Marine Corps at Camp LeJeune, North Carolina.
He was sent to Camp Pendleton, California for further training, and then
deployed to the Pacific Theater.
McNeill served as a Navy Corpsman, participating in the invasions
of Saipan, Okinawa and Iwo Jima. He was in the Philippines preparing for the
invasion of Japan when the war ended.
