Frank
Marks joined the U.S. Army in June of 1944, and was assigned to the Calvary. He
completed basic training at Fort Reilly, Kansas, and was deployed to the
Pacific. Marks’s division was in the Philippines preparing for an invasion of
Japan when the Atomic bomb was dropped on Hiroshima. Marks spent nine months
with the occupation forces in Japan then returned to the United States. He was
discharged from the service at Camp Hill, Utah.
