Notes IA4894 IA4895 IA4896 IA4897 Launching of USS Zebulon B. Vance, December 6, 1941 The Zebulon B. Vance was the first vessel completed at the Wilmington shipyards. It was launched on December 6, 1941, one day before the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor. These photographs were taken by James "Skinny" Pennington, a local pilot who later served in China and India while in the Army.
