Machine gun position carved by the Germans in the hedgerow. The foxhole where gunners slept is under the corrugated tin camaflouged with turf. There was no living thing left in these hedgerows, even the birds lay dead on the ground, probaly killed by our artillery or mortar fire.
A German firing position was situated in a hedgerow with an observation post in the tree above. A German MG-42 machine gun ammunition can lay in the foreground. |
